[Popular Science] Everything you want to know about Category 8 network cables is here!
With the development of science and technology and the change of public thinking, more and more young people have higher and higher requirements for the quality of life. It is no exaggeration to say that the speed of the Internet directly affects the mood of modern young people. Data shows that more and more young people want faster Internet speeds and no lag.
Today, let’s take a closer look at the new generation of network jumpers - Cat8/Category 8 network cables.
Category 8 network cable is the latest generation of network cable. Like Category 7 network cable, it is double-shielded (SFTP). It has two wire pairs, an ultra-high bandwidth of 2000MH2, a transmission rate of up to 40Gb/s, and a transmission distance of up to 3m.
In the 1SO/IEC-11801 standard, Cat8 network cables are divided into Class I and Class II according to the channel level. The shielding types of Cat8 network cables in Class I are U/FTP and F/UTP, which are backward compatible with Cat5e,Cat6 and Cat6a RJ45 connector; Class II Cat8 eight network cable shielding type is F/FTP or S/FTP, which is backward compatible with TERA or GG45 connector interface.
What is the difference between Category 5e network cables, Category 6 network cables, Category 6a network cables and Category 7 network cables that are more common in today’s life? The following picture can be used for reference:
As can be seen from the figure, Category 8 network cables, like Category 7 network cables, are double-shielded and can be used in high-speed broadband environments.
The difference between Category 8 cables and other types of network cables is mainly reflected in the transmission rate, frequency bandwidth, transmission distance and application environment.
JINGCHANG's high-quality Category 8 network cable uses physical foaming technology for core insulation and high-quality PVC material for the outer cover. It is wear-resistant and stretch-resistant, has a long service life, and ensures signal stability as before. It is multi-layer shielded and has strong anti-interference ability, making it easy to meet your needs that the transmission requirements of 10Gbps.
Although Category 8 network cables are not widely used at present, with the development of science and technology, network cabling has increasingly higher requirements for transmission performance. At the same time, entering the 5G era, Category 8 network cables will gradually become the mainstream product in the integrated cabling system of data centers.
Why do large engineering projects choose low smoke, halogen-free, and flame-retardant cables?
With the continuous development of society, people's safety requirements for residential and public buildings are becoming increasingly high. According to statistics, fire has become one of the most frequent and common major disasters that threaten public safety and social development. In a fire, ordinary cables ignite spontaneously or quickly when exposed to fire, producing a large amount of smoke and corrosive halogen acid gas, posing a serious threat to the safety of people's lives and property. Hereby, the Low smoke and halogen-free series low smoke halogen-free flame-retardant cables are increasingly favored by the market due to their safety, environmental protection, durability, stable performance, and wide applicability.
1. High security
The low smoke halogen-free flame-retardant network cable adopts a green and environmentally friendly insulation layer, sheath, and special oxygen barrier material, which not only ensures good electrical and physical mechanical properties of environmentally friendly cables, but also ensures that the product does not contain halogens, solves the "secondary pollution" formed during combustion, and avoids the generation of carcinogenic "dioxins" substances during traditional PVC wire combustion.
Traditional cables release a large amount of toxic gases and smoke when caught on fire, posing a threat to the safety of personnel. However, low smoke and halogen-free flame-retardant network cables generate less smoke when exposed to fire, which helps with personnel evacuation and rescue work. Their good flame retardant performance can effectively slow down the spread of the fire and reduce the risk of fire hazards.
2. Good environmental friendliness
Low smoke halogen-free flame-retardant cable adopts a new type of special coating material that is pollution-free to the environment, ensuring that environmentally friendly cables do not produce toxic gases such as HCL (hydrogen chloride, hydrochloric acid vapor) during production, use, and combustion, and emit very little acid gas, causing minimal damage to personnel, equipment, and instruments, highlighting environmental characteristics.
The insulation and sheath do not contain heavy metals such as lead and cadmium that are harmful to human health. They do not cause pollution to soil and water sources during use and disposal, which is more in line with the requirements of modern society for environmental
protection.
3. More durable
Low smoke halogen-free flame-retardant network cables are more waterproof and UV resistant, which to some extent slows down the aging speed of environmentally friendly cables, prolongs their service life, effectively reduces the frequency of cable replacement, and reduces maintenance costs.
4. Stable performance
In engineering projects, cables need to withstand various complex environmental conditions, such as high temperature, humidity, etc. Traditional cable materials are prone to aging and deformation in extreme environments, leading to a decrease in cable performance and even inability to function properly. And the low smoke, halogen-free, and flame-retardant mesh cables, relying on high-quality materials and advanced production processes, have high resistance to high temperature and humidity, thereby maintaining stable performance in harsh environmental conditions and ensuring the normal operation of engineering projects.
5. Widely applicable
In commercial buildings, residential buildings, hospitals, schools, subways, airports, and other places, low smoke and halogen-free flame-retardant cables are widely used in densely populated areas, important facilities, and areas with high environmental requirements due to their excellent fire resistance and environmental characteristics. In engineering projects, selecting low smoke and halogen-free flame-retardant cables is an important measure to ensure project safety and promote environmental protection.

Understanding the difference between CAT6A cable types
CAT6A cable, also referred to as Category 6A patch leads or cat 6a cables, is becoming the cable of choice for many structured cabling networks. CAT6A cable allows for the transmission of up to 10Gbps and is fast becoming the cabling infrastructure of choice for VoIP, CCTV and data networks.
Specified for use in Class Ea networks, CAT6A cable allows for extremely high data rate transmission of up 10Gbps and at a frequency of 500Mhz.
In fact, CAT6A fully supports 10GBASE-T up to 100 metres in channel length which ensures that it can support the fastest Ethernet applications.
There are 2 main types of CAT6A cable that conform to these standards, shielded and unshielded, which are often referred to as F/UTP and U/UTP.
Some use the term FTP and UTP to distinguish between shielded and unshielded cable however according to the ISO/IEC standards, the first letters indicate the type of overall shield while the latter letters indicate the type of shielding on each pair and the balanced element. Therefore, F/UTP and U/UTP is the easiest way to distinguish cable types.
CAT6A U/UTP means the cable consists of 4 unshielded twisted pairs and no outer shielding.
CAT6A F/UTP means the cable consists of 4 unshielded twisted pairs however it contains an outer foil shield. This is a shielded cable.
There is also S/FTP (screened/foiled twisted pair) cable, normally a CAT7 cable that has four individually shielded pairs and an outer screen braid around all four pairs.
CAT 6A U/UTP is constructed in a certain way to help minimize cross talk and ANEXT. This includes larger conductors, (23 AWG minimum), tighter twists, extra internal airspace, an internal separator between the pairs, and thicker outer jacket. These features typically increase the outer diameter of the cable.
CAT6A F/UTP is constructed in a similar manner however it contains an outer foil shield, underneath the outer cable jacket.
The foil shield acts as a barrier preventing EMI/RFI from coupling onto the twisted pairs from adjacent cables. In effect, it reflects the noise or interference from lights, machinery and other sources of EMI, as well as RFI from cell phones and wireless access points, In addition, the foil shield prevents data signals from leaking out of the cable.
If you are using shielded F/UTP CAT6A cable in an installation, a compatible shielded connector should be used. Likewise, an unshielded cable should be used with unshielded connectors.
Deciding on whether to implement a shielded or unshielded cabling solution depends on a number of factors including ease of installation, cost, EMI, ANEXT and is a debate that has valid arguments on either side.
Before deciding on the best approach, all factors need to be weighed up so that the installed system lasts well in to the future is and is able to handle 10GBASE-T applications.
White paper lauds country's party system
China's unique political party system has displayed unquestionable strength and vitality in the country's political and social life, and the country won't blindly imitate other political party systems or impose its own system on any other country, a white paper said.
China has adopted the political party system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Through consultation among political parties, participation and deliberation in the administration of State affairs, and democratic oversight, the system pools ideas and suggestions to ensure informed and democratic decision-making, according to the paper: "China's Political Party System: Cooperation and Consultation" released on Friday.
"The system represents the fundamental interests of the peoples of all ethnic groups and social sectors rather than only a select few or vested interests," Xu Yousheng, deputy head and a spokesman of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, said at a news conference in Beijing after the document was released.
"It can prevent political parties from acting in their own interests or in the interests of the regions or groups they represent," Xu said.
In addition to the CPC, there are eight other political parties in China's unique party system. The system also includes prominent individuals without affiliation to any of the political parties. The non-Communist parties aren't in opposition, nor are they bystanders or outsiders.
Their roles include the administration of State affairs, consultation on major principles and policies as well as fielding candidates for important leading positions as well as assisting with the formulation and implementation of State policies, laws and regulations, according to the white paper.
Xu said non-Communist parties can independently carry out their work and perform their functions and duties in accordance with their own rules. Also, their status and their right to participate in the administration of State affairs are respected by the CPC and protected by the Constitution, he added.
Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in late 2012, 172 meetings and symposiums have been held by the central leadership, the State Council and ministries for all parties to discuss State affairs together, of which 37 were presided over by President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, according to Zhang Jian, director of the research office of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Also, members of non-Communist parties have drafted more than 730 pieces of advice on key issues such as the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, Zhang said.
Factory worker goes extra mile to raise production
Come rain or shine, Pang Qiwen spends 10 hours each day in a workshop full of machines. He puts on his protective overalls, hat and shoes, and buries his head in his work on the production line.

The 30-something is attached to the transmission division of Liugong Machinery, a heavyweight construction machinery supplier based in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
His impeccable record of precision with the numerically controlled machine tool he operates, has earned him the affectionate sobriquet of "commander".
"Like our teachers and predecessors, who focused on transmission research and development for over 40 years, we young people must strive for excellence in production," Pang says.
He believes that technical workers like him must keep working hard in the new era, and remain focused on details, and on delivering positive results, no matter what.
Pang has won many awards for his performance over the years, including the 2019 National Machinery Industry Model Worker award from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the China Machinery Industry Federation.
As a senior technician, Pang holds himself to a high standard, and is a model for colleagues. In addition to his routine responsibilities, he has kept up with developments in high-end numerical control equipment.
"I always learn new things, so that if the company needs to introduce new equipment for production, I can adapt, and master them faster," Pang says.
He has thrown himself into vocational competitions to hone his skills and even does his own research and development.
"It may be just a drawing at the beginning," Pang says, adding that he feels a sense of achievement when he manages to turn that drawing into an actual part for a loader or an excavator.
In 2017, a training workshop named after him was set up to encourage innovation and efficiency among young workers.
"The workshop is mainly for technical transformation and the trial production of new products, which is a test of an individual's overall abilities, and requires one to be proficient in related professional areas," Pang says.
The workshop has rapidly improved skills at the transmission division.
"In each section, employees with a good technical foundation can also lead their colleagues to progress together," he says.
The workshop has held a number of competitions to raise employee enthusiasm and creativity.
In the last few years, it has helped deliver eight technological transformations and 20 technological innovations for the company, earning it more than 20 million yuan ($3.14 million).
In 2020, Pang played a positive role in the development of 14 new products at the transmission division, and experimented with new gearboxes and reduction gear.
During the pandemic, Pang and his team worked overtime to program processing, and optimize bottleneck operations to meet the company schedule. He also took the initiative to communicate with suppliers whenever problems arose.
According to Cai Chengyang, a workshop section chief at Liugong, this played an important role in helping to ensure the efficient progress of production.
Recently, Pang has been studying human resource management through the Continuing Education Program of the China University of Labor Relations.
"I need to broaden my knowledge beyond technical skills," he says, adding that his goal is to accumulate expertise, and become a highly-skilled worker to help company development in the new era.
Nation pushes overseas vaccine production
China is encouraging the production of more of its vaccines in overseas countries, especially developing ones, to help ensure supplies and speed the global economic recovery, according to officials and analysts.
To date, China has provided vaccine assistance to more than 80 developing countries and exported COVID-19 doses to over 40 nations, said Mao Junfeng, an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country's top industry regulator.

The efforts came despite limited production capacity in China and huge domestic demand for vaccines.
"Chinese vaccine companies have been working 24 hours a day at full throttle to speed up production," Mao said. "Compared with the beginning of this year, their vaccine production capacities have increased significantly. That was the period with the highest output and the fastest growth rate in China's vaccine production history."
China has already provided more than 350 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccines overseas, and the nation is trying its best to assist the global fight against the pandemic, Mao said. "To enhance the global vaccine supply, three Chinese companies have cooperated with eight countries to manufacture vaccines locally. And they are also discussing joint production plans with 10 additional countries," Mao said.
The ministry will support qualified Chinese pharmaceutical companies in strengthening international cooperation in vaccine production and expanding the accessibility and affordability of vaccines, he said.
Li Xingqian, director-general of the Foreign Trade Department at the Ministry of Commerce, said China has issued conditional market approval for four COVID-19 vaccines. Products manufactured by the China National Pharmaceutical Group, also known as Sinopharm, and Sinovac Biotech have already been included in the World Health Organization's list of doses for emergency use.
Li said China is encouraging Chinese vaccine manufacturers with approved vaccines to actively expand their exports. "In order to ensure the quality and safety of vaccine products, the government supports Sinopharm, Sinovac and Tianjin-based CanSino Biologics Inc to export independently," said Li, adding that China welcomes countries and international organizations in great need of vaccines to directly negotiate with the companies.
Qian Chunying, an official at the Commerce Ministry's Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation, said that apart from exporting vaccines to countries such as Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Cambodia and the Philippines, China has organized and implemented vaccine aid programs for 88 countries and four international organizations.
Pearson Liu, a spokesman for Sinovac, said, "To rein in the global pandemic, the biggest challenge is to ensure sufficient supplies of vaccines to all countries." The company had supplied 600 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines globally, including in China, as of May 31, Liu said.
Sinovac has cooperated with countries such as Egypt to manufacture its widely sought CoronaVac vaccine locally. It also plans to launch similar operations in more countries to enhance the global supply of vaccines, Liu said.
Feng Duojia, chairman of the China Association for Vaccines, said production of the vaccines overseas could ensure the quantity and efficiency of the supply while reducing costs. It will also boost local vaccine industries and improve the countries' public health systems, Feng said.
Zhou Mi, a senior researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation in Beijing, said countries without adequate access to COVID-19 vaccines are often developing nations that have become even more vulnerable due to the pandemic. While a few countries have banned vaccine exports, efforts by Chinese vaccine makers to improve global distribution are highly significant to pandemic control and economic recovery, he added.
United Nations Chief Economist Elliott Harris said earlier that timely and universal access to COVID-19 vaccinations will make the difference between promptly ending the pandemic and placing the world economy on a resilient recovery trajectory, or losing more years of growth, development and opportunities.
Luosifen listed as intangible cultural heritage
A total of 185 new cultural practices and expressions, including the preparation of luosifen, have been inscribed on the latest list of national intangible cultural heritage released by the State Council.
The latest fifth list made the total number of national intangible cultural heritage practices reach 1,557, according to the State Council figures.
Liuzhou luosifen, a soup dish dubbed by some people as "durian of soup" for its strong smell, originated in Liuzhou, a city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. It features rice vermicelli soaked in a spicy broth flavored by river snails and topped with ingredients including pickled bamboo shoots, string beans, peanuts and tofu skin.
Despite having the word "snail" in its Chinese name, actual snails don't commonly appear in the dish, but are used to flavor the broth.
Xinhua reports that the annual sales of river snail rice noodles in more than 20 countries and regions exceeded 10 billion yuan ($1.54 billion) in 2020, while providing over 250,000 jobs across the industrial chain.
A taste of the simple life
"Eating is to repair oneself; if you go to a restaurant and order several dishes randomly, it can't fix you. A bustling restaurant is a distraction," Wang says. "On countless occasions, I recall that when I was a child, eating was such a simple thing that brought me huge satisfaction. Why? Because food is made by families."
Each episode, about 17 minutes long, introduces two signature dishes from local families in two counties or villages. The audience can follow the food's preparation and cooking while learning the stories of the families and the food.
He thinks the taste of home is about memory-even though someone may have visited countless restaurants, they will always yearn for the homemade dish that propels them back to the safety and warmth of childhood.
The 46-year-old hopes to record the preparing of dishes that use recipes which have not changed for decades or even generations. "I want to film the unchanging things," he says.
Unlike filming restaurant owners or chefs who are easier to find, Wang and his crew had to work hard to find interviewees for their documentary.
The first reaction of those selected was often one of surprise. "They always said, 'I'm not a good cook; why would you want to film me?' But when I'd ask who likes eating their food, they would proudly tell me which dishes were favored by which family members," Wang explains.
"If they were going to collect corn in the fields, we would follow them and help them to collect it," he says.
Wang knows that living in the city, people might buy a week's food in a supermarket and put it into freezers and fridges." Fridges are getting larger, but people know less about where the food comes from," he says.
Taste of Home was planned last year, Hong says, and it is not just about food, but is also a bridge to people's sincere feelings.
Breakfast in China, a 100-episode documentary series. Both documentaries have a similar relaxing and jovial tone, and both eschew the vaunted and acclaimed chefs and their rare dishes, instead choosing to portray the culinary lives of ordinary people.
"Our team is good at digging out the fun parts of rural life and presenting it to the audience," Hong adds.
"So, we want to find our own specialty. The audience has already noticed there is similar storytelling style for both Breakfast in China and Taste of Home, and we want to continue this style," Hong says.
"Hopefully, we can use an expression that attracts a younger audience to pass on our values. Our goal is to be the top content producers in the food documentary sector in China."
Transportation boost puts region on road to riches
In those days, the freight service, which aims to boost connectivity along the Silk Road Economic Belt via the Eurasian Land Bridge, could only take him to countries that border Xinjiang, such as Kazakhstan.
In 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by President Xi Jinping as a way to boost global trade and connectivity. The BRI consists of the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the oceangoing 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
Since then, the development of land ports and the transportation infrastructure in the vast region that covers one-sixth of China's territory has reached an unprecedented pace.
Xie believes that the changes he has witnessed in the China-Europe Railway Express services across the region perfectly demonstrate the effect of the BRI.
"I've driven trains carrying goods from China to Italy, Germany and Spain from Alataw Pass, which borders Kazakhstan. Nowhere tells the BRI's story better in practice than Xinjiang," he said.
Now, 22 routes of the China-Europe Railway Express pass through Alataw Pass in Xinjiang's Bortala Mongolian autonomous prefecture. The routes connect China with 13 countries.
Despite the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, 2,446 China-Europe Railway Express trains traversed the pass in the first five months of the year, a rise of 44.7 percent from the same period last year.
Moreover, the average number of daily train services has reached 15 from just two in the route's initial stages, Wang Chuanjie, head of the Alataw Pass Customs, said.
He noted that China-Europe Railway Express services can cut freight journey times from Xinjiang to Europe by 80 percent compared with sea transportation and the service is extremely reliable.
The first China-Europe Railway Express train departed Alataw Pass on March 19, 2011. However, it took more than seven years for the number of services to and from China via the pass to reach 5,000, Wang said.
"But it only took 15 months for the number to reach 10,000 from 5,000. So, it's clear that the initiative has taken effect. Furthermore, the region has greatly benefited from it."
Xinjiang, an important trade hub on the ancient Silk Road, has been designated as a core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt under the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.
Bordering eight countries, the region has geared up to leverage its geographical advantages and develop into a hub for greater trade openings.
Quicker journeys
On May 28, a China-Europe Railway Express train carrying 2,156 metric tons of concentrated apple juice left southern Xinjiang's Aksu city and headed for Russia via Alataw Pass.
Once, the juice had to be shipped to Urumqi, Xinjiang's capital, before it could be transferred to the China-Europe Railway Express, and it took 23 days to reach its destination, said Li Judong, manager of Hengtong Juice in Aksu, a key apple cultivation area.
"As Xinjiang's railway system improves, the freight train service has become more and more flexible. By departing from Aksu directly, the journey time to Russia has been cut in half, which has made the company's business more competitive. Xinjiang is no longer 'somewhere far away', but a transportation hub connecting China with countries in Central Asia and Europe. I am pleased to see that many of my international business partners realize that, too," Li said.
The BRI has also brought many new opportunities for land ports that have been key to traders since the ancient Silk Road. Modern cities have risen up at ports such as Alataw Pass and Horgos to better support the initiative's development.
In 1988, when Yu Chengzhong first arrived in Horgos, a land port between China and Kazakhstan in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, he never imagined that a new city with modern buildings would rise up in the Gobi Desert thanks to the BRI.
In Mongolian, Horgos means "a place where caravans pass", as it was a trading post along the northern route of the ancient Silk Road. In the
That resonates with its recent development as it becomes a regional hub for trade and commerce.
"Apart from a few one-story buildings and small shops, there was nothing but the Gobi Desert in Horgos, which was only a land port where no one wanted to stay permanently because of the harsh environment," Yu recalled.
"Horgos is no longer just a land port. Now, many people have settled down and become residents of Horgos city."
The entrepreneur has witnessed the rapid development of Horgos, especially since the State Council, China's Cabinet, decided to transform it from a simple land port into a city to better accommodate its development under the BRI and benefit Xinjiang's economic development.
Yu who started out by selling fruit on the streets of Horgos, is known as the local "fruit king". His company, Jinyi International Trade, exports fruit to Russia and countries in Central Asia. He has also established several fruit production bases around China to meet the demand of the international market.
He recalled that when he started the company, it took at least two days for customs to clear goods heading to Kazakhstan on trucks.
"Now, it only takes two hours, thanks to the improved customs clearance and simplified procedures brought by the initiative. Time means money in the fruit business," he said.
To make life more convenient, Xinjiang has stepped up efforts to cut customs clearance times at international rail ports, including Horgos. The average time for clearing outbound goods has been cut to less than one hour, while it takes less than a day to clear inbound goods.
The Horgos government said it will continue to improve infrastructures such as road and telecommunications that are important for businesses, because its goal is to encourage more large businesses to settle in the city.
Creative development
Despite being one of the youngest settlements along the new Silk Road, the development of Horgos is driven by creativity. The city's International Cooperation Center, which straddles the China-Kazakhstan border, is the world's only cross-border free trade zone. Movement of personnel, vehicles and goods within the zone is unrestricted, and stores and visitors pay little or no tax.
In a written interview with China Daily this month, Chen Quanguo, Party secretary of Xinjiang, said the Horgos Economic Development Zone is expected to become a key engine in Northwest China to further boost Xinjiang's opening up as the region plans to accelerate the speed at which it becomes a core area on the Silk Road Economic Belt.
According to the regional government's work report, published i
